Giving Tiburón Blanco a voice as loud as the spirit itself
A small-batch mezcal getting lost on shelves next to bigger, louder brands.
The challenge
Tiburón Blanco is made the hard way: hand-harvested agave, wood-fired ovens, stone-ground mash, copper-pot distillation, a family recipe passed down three generations in Oaxaca. None of that showed up in the brand. The bottle looked like every other mezcal on the shelf, and the story behind the price tag was buried in tasting notes nobody read.
Mezcal had also become a crowded, noisy category — every new entrant claiming authenticity, craft, and heritage. Tiburón Blanco actually had those things. It needed a brand that could prove it at a glance, not just assert it in a paragraph.
We went to the palenque before touching a single design file. Watching the process — the wood smoke, the tahona stone, the patience it takes to do this right — gave us the raw material for a brand built on specificity, not cliché.
We rebuilt the visual identity around the shark the brand is named for: sharp, direct, built for open water. It became the throughline for packaging, motion, and content — distinct enough to spot across a crowded bar in half a second.
We split the content strategy between the palenque and the pour: origin-story content that puts viewers inside production, and bartender-facing content that gives accounts a reason to feature it. We trained the brand voice to sound like the people who make it — direct, unpretentious, a little defiant — rather than the generic warmth most spirits brands default to.
Tiburón Blanco now reads as what it is: a serious, small-batch spirit with nothing to hide and a story that earns the price tag. Retail buyers and bar programs noticed the shift immediately, and the brand's distinctiveness on shelf has translated directly into sell-through.
The content engine built around the palenque is a durable asset — every harvest and pour gives the team new material without straying from the identity we built. The brand never needed to shout to be noticed. It just needed to sound like what it always was.
