Positioning Milam between boutique charm and real reliability

A boutique hotel brand expanding into a second property, needing an identity as consistent as it is charming.

The challenge

Milam's first property built a loyal following on personality — quirky details, a strong point of view, memorable service. Opening a second location risked either diluting that charm into something generic, or feeling so disconnected that guests wouldn't recognize the brand at all.

We defined the handful of non-negotiable brand signatures that had to travel to every future property, and separated them from the local flourishes that should change with each location. That gave Milam a system for growth instead of a one-off identity that couldn't scale.

The second Milam property launched with immediate guest recognition of the brand's core identity, while still feeling distinct enough to its own location — proof the brand could grow without losing what made it work in the first place.
